Mininova.org goes Legit - what this means
Occasionally I download content from Mininova.org and in recent days the site has become legit. This is a great move and will create a new, lucrative market and I will tell you why:
- Users that have built up habits of going to the site will continue to return and it will be easier to discover independent content
- More independant artists and films now have a huge opportunity for a channel of distribution
This leads to a new type of business model. You release your movie/album and get a large amount of downloads. This is evident with the movie Ink over the last few weeks shooting up 18,000 places in IMDB. Why? because “pirates” downloaded it. Well now they are not pirates. This is a legit means of distributing content that will only prove more interesting as others discover this incredible method of promotion.
Build an audience, then monetize.
